After the dust settles, the Repugnicants will not like this speech by McBush tonight. It was disjointed and poorly delivered, and it admitted fault for the last eight years.
There was only passing reference to George W. Bush and only with the word, President, and it didn't look anywhere toward the future or any single problem facing most of us today. McBush attempted to become the agent for change in this election by admitting the party's mistakes in great detail.
McBush was told that he couldn't get his way and pick Lieberman as running mate because that wasn't conservative enough, so he took 15 minutes to vet the Shrilf to look like a conservative. Similarly, he was told that this would be about change, so he took 15 minutes to write this speech and attempt to be the change agent. Both forced decisions were necessary but fraught.
This election is not about the same, tired social conservatism wrapped in the prettier cover of the Shrilf or about a long-time Washington insider shedding his skin tonight - it is about real CHANGE and McBush and the Shrilf JUST DON'T GET IT!
